Storage Engineer IIIThe Storage Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of Lowe’s enterprise storage area network. This position will report to the Technical Services Project Manger and will work closely with a team of storage engineers and server engineers to provide technical support for all storage management related projects and activities. The individual will also act as a liaison to other departments on all technical matters related to storage management. The Storage Engineer III must be able to design AND implement SAN/NAS solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
BS/BA Computer Science or related discipline.
Experience supporting AIX and Windows storage environments (Linux/Sun are a plus).
Experience with EMC Symmetrix/DMX storage arrays.
Experience with McData SAN Switches.
Storage management software experience should include ALL of the following:
Experience installing, configuring, and managing ECC and TimeFinder products.
Experience with SRDF in some form (SAR and/or SRDF/A is preferred).
Experience with multiple storage protocols (FCIP, FICON, ESCON, iSCSI, FC)
Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Emulex and QLogic HBA’s
Three+ years experience in a lead role serving as mentor for junior level storage staff.
The ability to communicate ideas and define problem solutions with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.
The person accepting this position must have the ability and willingness to conceptualize and communicate enterprise storage architecture/proposals to immediate management, therefore excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
CLARiiON, MirrorView, Snapview, and Navisphere Manager experience is highly preferred.
Cisco MDS 9000 series switch experience is a plus.
IBM (ESS and VSS), and HP StorageWorks (inclusive of
Experience in configuring and/or managing fiber-based tape backup environments including IBM VTS tape libraries, FDR/SOS software, and/or Tivoli Storage Manager software.
Mainframe systems programming and storage management. This includes working knowledge of Z/OS internals, ALC, SMP/E, VTAM, IPCS, JES, TSO/E, ISPF/PDF, JCL, IDCAMS, DADSM, VSAM, SMS, and OS/390 system software.
Knowledge and experience working with software installation utilizing SMP/E and other MVS utilities. Ability to debug system software problems by analyzing system dumps in both hardcopy and IPCS format.
