Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Storage Engineer is responsible for Level II technical support within a team of distributed engineers in support of the SAN storage administration, implementation, performance tuning, backup and migration.
Responsibilities: Technology Solutions Development and Deployment
Provide on-going maintenance and support for the SAN environment and monitor the infrastructure backbone.
Provide Level II troubleshooting and support services to Global, Regional and Office IT staff and other IT departments.
Provide excellent customer service to Lend Lease users and external clients.
Support, communicate, and maintain network policies, processes, and standards to ensure conformance with overall company objectives.
Assist with Storage capacity planning, tuning, architecture, maintenance and monitoring.
Maintain system logs. Maintain and enhance system documentation.
Maintain personal excellence a broad range of storage concepts, including SANS, NAS, direct attached storage, and SAN fabric zoning and working knowledge of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery storage.
Evaluate/test, design, document, and implement storage solutions.
Assist in developing and recommending hardware/software solutions, configurations and standards for servers.
Understand methodologies for ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
Assist in planning and implementing disaster recovery programs and business resumption planning.
Work directly with Lend Lease end-users, user groups, managers and project teams to effectively implement standard Lend Lease technology solutions.
Understand the information security implications of technology solutions and ensure they comply with the Information Security Plan.
Functional Processes
Has an understanding of the Lend Lease processes and technology solutions.
Works with functional departments and their managers with processes and appropriate application of technology to support the department’s objectives.
Has a general understanding of “Best Practices” associated with information technology solutions.
Project Management
Has a general understanding of the IT Project Management policies, practices and procedures and works toward developing an proven skill set in this area
Manage small and/or internal IT projects using the LL IT PM practices or industry best practice in lieu thereof.
Assists with the company’s disaster recovery efforts including processes and procedures, testing and the recovery of application systems and data in the event of a disaster.
Technology Support
Provide Lend Lease technology users with appropriate levels of support.
Assist Call Center/Help Desk in the support of Lend Lease solutions.
Support Lend Lease’s Culture to Promote Learning and Development
Develop material to support learning the standard Lend Lease technology solutions.
Assist with the training efforts required to make our IT solutions effective.
Vendor Relationships
Establish and maintain positive working relationships between Lend Lease and our technology partners.
Work with our technology vendors to continually improve the tools available to us.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Four-year degree in computer science, or equivalent discipline.
2. Experience working in large technology infrastructure environments.
3. 1-2 years experience with Veritas storage products and solutions, specifically Net Backup, Volume Manager and other Storage Foundation products.
4. 1-2 years experience in one or more of the following areas: Red Hat Linux (preferred), IBM AIX, UNIX/Solaris or HP-UX and experience working with products on a variety of Open System Technologies.
5. Exposure to the following: High performance storage subsystems and SAN technologies; IP SAN; iSCSI, Database backup and restore, such as Oracle, SQL, Exchange, Sybase, DB2, SAP, Informix, Baan, PeopleSoft, etc., Network Attached Storage (NAS), Fibre channel fabric, such as Brocade and McDATA switches, Clustered systems, IBM SVC.
6. 1+ years experience with some or all of the following: Microsoft Windows operating systems, anti-virus programs, messaging, Citrix, network protocols, network switches, server hardware, and network cabling, backup and recovery software, DLT tape technology, RAID storage products, SAN fiber architecture.
7. General knowledge and working experience of Network Appliance and Veritas storage products and solutions.
8. 1+ years network design and architecture experience.
9. Professional acumen.
10. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
11. Ability to interface with a variety of technical and business people.
12. Appropriate certifications to support specific specialties (W2k3, W2k MCSE, CCNA, CCDP, CNIE, A+, Citrix, CCSE, Checkpoint, etc.).
13. Strategic and analytical thinking skills and demonstrated comfort to deal with the business aspects of highly technical enterprise infrastructure software products.
14.
