Steam Turbine Engineer II-Sr

Purpose: An Engineer II or I possesses basic to intermediate knowledge of power plant operation, maintenance and capital improvements. Ideally the candidate would have experience involving turbine generator equipment including all auxiliary support systems. An Engineer II or I will be responsible for the effective planning, organization, direction and coordination of all assigned work activities in a safe, efficient and economical manner with minimal supervision. This position will be required to develop an excellent working relationship with internal personnel including engineering, management, plant management teams and CMS/CMF as well as external original equipment manufacturers, equipment vendors and contractors. In addition, an engineer II or I is required to:

- Keep abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment.
- Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity.
- Understands and analyzes or exhibits the ability to understand the interrelationship between turbine generator systems and equipment components.
- Can lead or coordinate work activities of others in the work group, department or corporate entity as necessary to complete routine activities.
- Coordinates or provides training and guidance of lower level employees.
- Coordinates the development of plans or participates in the development of plans that establishes goals, objectives and requirements relative to successfully executing turbine generator work.
- Identifies and initiates appropriate corrective action when objectives or work plans are not being met.
- Develops, reviews, prepares and presents reports on complex or highly technical subjects in a clear, concise and effective manner that is suitable for management and professional organizations.
- Identifies, clarifies and either initiates or resolves solutions to routine or complex problems that involve the analysis of inadequate or conflicting data.
- Function as or acts as an active team member in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
- Effectively manages project budgets using cost management techniques and understands how those costs effect the expenses and revenues of AEP.
- Has the ability to recognize risk factors and analyze options to mitigate or address those risks associated with turbine generator equipment.
- Performs or ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards and rules of the company and comply with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
- Demonstrates the ability to assemble clear and complete work packages to properly convey equipment inspections, anticipated repairs, acceptable clearances and measurement requirements in support of assigned work.
- Coordinate and demonstrate the ability to analyze equipment problems and outline corrective action plans to overcome and prevent similar problems from reoccurring.

Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Prefer Mechanical)
Typically should have 4-9 years of engineering experience since obtaining degree.
Registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training in any U. S. state is encouraged and preferred.

Special Qualifications (Training, Skills ETC.)
Courses in machine diagnostics and vibration analysis would be beneficial.
