Position ResponsibilitiesOur Decatur, Alabama office has an immediate opening for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer. Successful candidate will provide field, office, and laboratory support in a range of geotechnical and environmental projects. Work will be undertaken at the direction of senior environmental scientist, geologists and geotechnical engineers. The Staff Geotechnical Engineer’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:Planning and execution of field investigations;
Engineering analyses using computer-based tools;
Support of environmental and remediation projects;
Assistance with construction management assignments including scheduling and contractor supervision;
Preparation of technical reports; and
Other engineering activities as directed.Appropriate training will be provided. The successful applicant must have strong analytical and communication skills, a solid understanding of soil mechanics, mechanics of materials, and environmental understanding. Candidates should have an MS in civil/geotechnical/environmental engineering or a BS with a strong mathematical component. Candidates with mechanical and chemical engineering may be considered, depending on experience. Willingness to work toward Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is required. Travel within the United States will be necessary for some to many field studies. Competence in MS Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for presentation of written work is necessary. A clean driving record is also required.
