Staff Engineer/Technologist, Composite Materials Development

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, AviationFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: * Execute with some guidance the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product/program requirements.
Provide technical leadership to other personnel assigned to support the effort on assigned projects and/or tasks; mentors others in the organization.
Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
At least 3 years of experience in an engineering field.Desired: * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Technological proficiency, including relevant engineering tools.
Experience designing and implementing new products using the NPI process.
An understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data-based recommendations and decisions.
Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
Demonstrate ability to document, plan, market, and manage materials development programs.
Advanced degree in Polymers, Organic Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
At least 5 years experience in developing and implementing polymeric composite materials.
Demonstrated depth of understanding of resins, polymers, and elastomers as well as molecular structure, processing, and property relationships.
Demonstrated experience in working with direct contracts with a proven record of winning proposals.General: GE Overview:
