Sr. Telephony Engineer
*Perform complex tasks relating to network operations, installation, and/or maintenance for local, off-site and/or remote locations.
Develop methodologies for analysis, installation, and support quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components.
Provide coordination in the analysis, acquisition, and installation of remote hardware and software. Interfaces with internal/external customers and vendors to determine system needs.
Serve as technical specialist/lead on a functional basis, for the resolution of complex telephony problems.
Assist in maintenance of technical architecture documentation for CDW*s voice infrastructure.
Participate in business continuance planning for infrastructure.
Participate in evaluation and selection of new software and hardware.
Monitor and perform follow-up on compliance violations, and develop security policies, practices, and guidelines.
Monitor telecommunications links and telephony devices for failures and performance problems, and perform capacity planning.
Coordinate with the Help Desk to respond to questions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor*s degree in telecommunications or related field, or equivalent experience required.
8-10 years experience in software/hardware voice network design and analysis.
Broad knowledge of voice and data communications systems, dial plans, switching architecture, telephony and wiring.
Experience with moves, adds and changes, fault isolation and resolution, and end-user support.
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and QoS.
Advanced knowledge of VoIP technologies and actual implementation / support experience.
Advanced knowledge of Avaya to include:
oAvaya G3si, Intuity Audix, CMS
oS8XXX and G7XX architecture
oVector programming, configuration, number administration, CMS system, CLAN/MedPRO card configuration, and VAL Board programming
oStrong knowledge of Unified Messaging Architecture, Protocols: H.323, SIP, PSTN and carrier networks and product offerings, carrier circuit design and provisioning processes, circuit testing and troubleshooting techniques.
oAbility to analyze telecom utilization and performance data
Cisco, or Nortel telephony equipment. Avaya certification preferred.
Ability to exercise good judgment when troubleshooting telecommunications problems.
Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with coworkers and executives at all levels.
Strong documentation skills with impeccable attention to detail.
Project management experience preferred.
