Department Description: The San Diego Design Center is responsible for designing and developing CDMA Wireless handsets . Positions are open for digital, RF, audio, and antenna hardware design engineers to develop next generation 1x and EVDO(HDR) handsets. Selected engineers must work with mechanical and software development engineers in the test and evaluation of handset designs to ensure products meet stringent quality and customer requirements. They must understand and interpret industry standards and customer requirements for electrical performance of handsets. And, they must work directly with our Service Providers' technical personnel in support of customer acceptance testing.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Design, develop, and simulate, prototype multi-band, multimode CDMA handsets for worldwide markets. Then help bring up manufacturing facilities to full scale production.
Positions cover Antenna Design, RF Design and Audio/Logic Design. Common responsibilities will include following Motorola, its customers’ and approval agencies' procedures and policies for individual parts and products certification.

Antenna designs cover all bands and handset antenna design methodologies. RF design positions responsibilities will include power amplifier, antenna, receiver design using platform ICs and solutions. Integrating location technology (AGPS or others) with Antennas and other on-board circuitry to come up with elegant solutions.

Audio/Logic design includes baseband work in handsets. This will cover logic and power circuitry, current drain analysis and improvements, acoustics and audio performance.^^

Knowledge Skills: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
BSEE minimum with 5+ years of experience in CDMA handsets.

Ability to interface with production.
Working knowledge of RF communication theory and circuit design.
Should have 6+ years of RF/Antenna design experience in CDMA technology (for RF/Antenna positions).
Logic engineers should have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in logic and audio circuitry,
Memory and processors, display and transducer technology.
Acoustics and software knowledge and experience with Qualcomm chipsets are added pluses.
