JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Candidate will help define and pursue research within the newly formed Software Technology Initiative at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories.
• Current technology areas under investigation within the Software Technology Initiative include: Behavioral Modeling of Large-scale Systems, Model-based Design Verification & Validation, Model Driven Development, Reverse Engineering, Model Translation and Abstract Visualization, and Methodologies for Large-scale Integration.
• Nature of work is applied research and development in software tools and technologies. Candidate will lead and work with other junior engineers in ATL to build “proof-of-concept” prototypes that demonstrate new and novel approaches to large-scale systems development.
• Typical customers include DARPA, DoD Service Labs, Lockheed Martin Business Units, and Advanced Technology Labs proper (via internally funded basic and applied research programs).
• Candidate will interact with Lockheed Martin customers to define research that can help to address these needs with short and long term payoffs.
• Publication of research in prominent journals and conferences, as well as a broad awareness of the software engineering field is also expected.
• Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation.

REQUIRED:
• PhD required in Computer Science, or Engineering/Science degree with software focus.
• Experience in defining research objectives, planning and monitoring performance of research, preparing and presenting research plans and results to management and customers
• Working knowledge of current state-of-the-art and state-of-practice in software development methodologies and technologies.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

• Experience in transitioning technology from the research environment to users.
• Publications in top-tier journals and conferences of previous research.
