Sr. Reclamation Engineer
Company: North America Mining Job Function: Engineering And Architectural Job Description: Major Responsibilities Evaluates, develops, and assists in the implementation of BMP’s for capping and revegetation programs/systems at Phelps Dodge sites.
Assists in the design and implementation of PD capping and revegetation projects.
Evaluate current reclamation industry capping and revegetation practices.
Evaluate current PD capping and revegetation practices.
Develop and implement test plot protocols.
Develop and coordinate technology partnerships with universities, governmental agencies and private consulting/engineering companies.
Contributes to site planning and budgeting efforts for material capping and phytostabilization systems.
Develops best practices for revegetation and capping including soil tillage, drill seeding, hydroseeding, hay/straw mulching, hydromulching, earthwork projects, installation of erosion control structures, selection of best metallophytes, and optimization of capping material/thickness.
Provides support for financial analysis of revegetation, soil control, and capping projects.Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate engineering discipline (i.e. chemical engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry, geology, hydrology, biology, agronomy, soil science, or related area) or equivalent education and experience.
Seven (7) years experience with revegetation and capping programs and projects.
Ability to manage complex projects.
Ability to analyze and evaluate information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
Ability to develop and implement consistent capping and revegetation BMP’s.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.~cb~
