Sr. Project Engineer Embedded Firmware

You won't want to miss this exciting Sr. Embedded Firmware Project Management position within the Controls Manufacturing division.Individual will be responsible for all aspects of firmware development for new, innovative product designs using embedded microprocessors.Scope of responsibilities will cover architectural design, reusable modular designs, low cost engineering designs, testing to robust environments, production implementation and product support in a cross-functional team environment.Candidate will interact with electronics designers, marketing, and management to assure that product development priorities are completed to schedule, while ensuring quality and product performance.
Product development activities include design and development, rigorous design reviews, incorporation of lessons learned from existing products, product verification and field validation along with coordinating with quality assurance and developing appropriate documentation.


Requirements:

7+ years experience in new product development, including firmware design for electronic products with embedded microprocessors.Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of microprocessor concepts, electronic interface circuits, and control applications.Firmware development experience for 8-bit microprocessors using C and some assembly language.Prior experience using embedded processors such as Atmel AVR, Microchip PIC, 8051, and similar 8-bit processors.Experience with inter-board communication using serial, I2C, SPI or similar methods.Experience in use of advanced development/debugging tools; e.g. C compilers, ICE, logic analyzers, etc.Prior experience implementing communication protocols in low-cost microcontrollers including creating proprietary protocols.Excellent communication skills.High energy with an enthusiastic attitude, desire for continued learning, and a willingness to take on difficult technical challenges.Prior experience with Design for Manufacturability, and Design for Testability.Experience showing increasing level of responsibility in design projects, with at least two designs managed from conception through production release.Experience in design verification and validation, including design reviews, code reviews, test plans, etc.BS in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering or other technical degree.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MSEE or other advanced degree in a related area. Experience in design and development of cost-effective wireless communication links between electronic devices. Knowledge of communications methods and techniques including wireless, mesh networks, Ethernet, USB, RS-485, Telco-modems, FSK, Manchester, etc. Experience with embedded 8-bit RTOS would be an asset. Experience with the irrigation industry would be an asset.
