Senior Operations Technician Work Group: National Network Services Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) is a leading provider of voice, video, and data services. Classification: Regular Full-Time employees are scheduled to work at least forty (40) hours per calendar week for an indefinite period of time. Location: Rancho Cordova, CA. Job Responsibilities: Skilled technical individual contributor working on complex network system equipment maintenance and installation assignments. Duties will include installation and testing of digital services including DS1, DS3 and Optical, preventative/routine site maintenance activities, and DC Power systems. Strong knowledge of products from multiple vendors, including but not limited to Optical spectrum analyzers, T-Berd 310 or 2310, Digital Lightwave ASA-312, OTDR's, optical power meters, fiber identifiers, and volt meters. Previous experience with the installation of telecom services and equipment is helpful. Must be able to work in a high demand environment with heavy phone and email requirements. Proactively identify and resolve customer and network trouble. Work with multiple customers, LECs, CLECs, collocation customers, vendors, contractors and Qwest Control Centers. Uses PC/laptop and associated programs (requires basic knowledge of MS Office & MS Outlook.) Perform work associated with trouble tickets, CM (Change Management) tickets and MOP's (Method of Procedure). Accurately maintain site inventories, i.e., CATS, C-Spares and Fiber Assignments. Perform housekeeping on assigned areas/site. Utilize and perform administrative duties on all modules: WDS, SIS, CATS, EZ Systems, and E-Site. Accurate and timely reporting of weekly activity reports and time sheets. Supervise contract personnel as necessary. Perform remote access via telnet or direct connect to transport equipment to determine possible troubles and propose course of action to correct deficiencies. Competent in testing and troubleshooting of DS3 and optical circuits, and the use of associated test equipment. Perform routine & complex maintenance on various transport equipment. Escort vendors, contractors, and IRU customers. Able to construct, install, and test DS3 & optical patch cords for X-connects. Perform circuit pack level troubleshooting under direction of NCC. Uses vendor's technical manuals or CD's to find pertinent information regarding operation/maintenance of transport equipment. Perform routine maintenance on site environmental support systems i.e. HVAC, fire control, environmental alarms, lighting and building maintenance Duties include operation and maintenance of the Nortel DMS 250. Duties include operation and maintenance of Tellabs DCCS systems.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent applicable work experience. Previous experience with Nortel DMS 250 and Tellabs DCCS. Experience constructing, installing and test DS3 circuits. Demonstrated knowledge of working with optical patch cords for X-connects. Strong PC skills are a must, including experience with MS Office software. OSP cable locating or construction experience a PLUS!
