Job DescriptionMDG56 Sr. Mechanical Designer Position Responsibilities: Deliver complete and accurate detailed design drawings as required for fabrication, assembly and installation that meet project requirements and applicable US Codes and Standards. Prepare Bills of Material. Prepare Custom or Commercial component specifications. Creates designs that function in a safe manner (OSHA) with optimum cost and reliability. Prepares layouts, sketches and detail drawings as required. Coordinates work efforts with engineers, junior designers, and drafters. Participates in the follow-up during fabrication. Review engineering changes and determine cost (design manhours) to implement approved changes. Full development of new design concepts and modifications to existing designs. Determine suitable component selection as new or replacement item in existing designs. Provides necessary design information to engr. staff and junior designers for coordination of engineering and design efforts. Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related degree with a minimum of 10 years design experience in a related manufacturing design environment. Or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of related design experience. ( Directly related experience may be substituted for degree requirement.). Proficiency in AutoCAD 14 (or higher) and good mechanical aptitude is required. Req´d knowledge includes working familiarity with Nat´l Codes and Stds, ANSI Y115B Drafting stds; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing System; General design principles; Applicable Manufacturing process experience; and Weld designation. Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters. Desired Qualifications: A working knowledge of French is a definite plus. Familiarity with encoders, positioning systems, PLC control systems, conveyors and lifts, and automated manufacturing is desired. Experience with powder transportation equipment (vibrating conveyors, hoppers, etc.), drum handling, or gloveboxes design is plus. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is desired. REF:CAAR145201
