Description:



Sr. JAVA Software Engineer is responsible for the architectural design and development of Ovations new Encounters applications. The application will collect information from multiple sources (real-time and batch) to identify the well-being of members. The applications sends the information to CMS, who determines the premium for each member. The application has major financial importance. The environment is distributed and contains a variety of technologies. The application will be Web based and implemented in JAVA with an Oracle backend.



Responsibilities:


Function as the technical point-of-reference on projects.
Facilitate application development and ongoing maintenance processes by providing expert guidance and development skills to project teams, support for infrastructure responsibilities and general assistance.
Assist with hands-on technical assessments on integration projects. Constantly evaluate the application architecture and the processing efficiencies and scalability.
Assist with the technical requirements definition.
Provide in depth consultation.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:


9+ years of hands-on software development experience in a broad range of technologies, specifically technologies associated with client and server-side development.


5 + years of hands-on software development experience in JAVA including creation of Java Server Pages (JSPs), servlets, and Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs).


Very strong object-oriented design and development experience, specifically in the area of J2EE design patterns such as Model View Controller, Command pattern, Session Facade, Data Access Object pattern, etc.


Requirements analysis, design, development, performance analysis and tuning, testing, support and maintenance experience.


Experience developing high volume and scalable applications using Oracle
Experience writing SQL and using JDBC to connect to relational databases.
Unix experience (Scripting and AWK).


Good communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:
Oracle ProC experience.
Health care experience.
