Job DescriptionE51 - Senior I&C Eng / HFE Specialist

Position Responsibilities: Senior I&C Engineer will report to the Assistant Lead Engineer and be responsible for the leading a team responsible for Human Factors Engineering HFE) design and verification for the MFFF. The team will be made up of the Senior I&C Engineer and one plant Operations staff member with augmentation as necessary from both the design engineering and operations staff. Conduct of the Human Factors Engineeing design and verification will include codification of the plant operationally and administrative task related to safety, analysis of the tasks, charaterizationf the human machine interfaces, and design of the necessary interfaces. Requirements for the design of the facility control rooms will be included in the responsibilities of the team. The Senior I&C Engineer will be responsible for the preparation of a HFE report documenting the activities and the conclusion of the team.

The Senior I&C Engineer is expected to be able to execute the required duties and activities with little technical direction from the Assistand Lead engineer. The Senior I&C Engineer is expected to work closely with the appropriate responsible system engineers, the assigned Integrated Safety Analysis personnel, the electrical design staff, and the other discipline engineers as necessary to perform the HFE work activities. The Senior Design Engineer is expected to be a positive influence on the HFE team and provide knowledge and leadership to assist less experienced personnel. The position involves the ability to evaluate complex operations and actions and break the activities down to small definable tasks for analysis. The Senior I&C Engineer shall understand project scheduling and performance measurement and be expected to anayze cost and schedule preformance of on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities shall include direct interaction with the US Department of Energy staff and contractors. The Senior I&C Engineer will also have contact with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Staff reviewers who are assigned to review the MFFF Licences Appliction. Apperence in public meetings with the USNRC is possible, although not likely in the near term.

Required Qualifications: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Ergonomics or other related technical Engineering Technology or 15 years of relevant experience in the field of Instrument and Control Engineering. Must have substantial experience with Human Factors Engineering principles either in the field of nuclear power, chemical or manufacturing process facilities, or military HFE. Must have experience with automation and digital controls systems. Basic computer skills in Access, Word and Excel. Capable of conceptualizing a design and generating detailed working drawings. Knowledge of NRC regulations for HFE, NUREG 0711 and NUREG 0700. Capable of directing designers and less senior engineers. Must demonstrate leadership and communications skills sufficiently to be able to take a lead role in the the interdiscipline design process.

Desired Qualifications: Professional Engineering License in South Carolina or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
