Aerotek has a Sr. Functional Safety Engineer open in the Newtown, CT. area.

A world leader in Product Safety Testing and Certifications services is expanding the North America operation. They currently have a position open for a Sr. Engineer in our Functional Safety Division.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum 5 years experience in the field of Functional Safety Testing and standards. Several yrs. Experience in HW/SW. An expert level of understanding of the standards relating to Functional Safety (e.g. IEC 61508, EN 954-1,). A good relationship within the ISA organization in the US also would be beneficial. In addition, the proven ability to develop strong relationships with current and new customers, generate revenue by billing engineering time, selling our full line of compliance services the focus on total account management is required.

Ideal Requirements:
-BA or Master in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering
-Several years of experience in design of microprocessors circuits ( Hard-and Software)
-Basic experience in programming languages
-Clear and precise expressiveness during compilation of technical reports
-Strong ability in business related thinking and acting
-Experienced in establishing customer relation and ability to acquire new accounts
-Good project management skills
-Good communication skills (oral and in writing)
-Some travel required

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: SR. EngineerDivision/Dept: Functional Safety


SCOPE OF POSITION
The professional engineering staff member shares in the responsibility to further company growth and profitability. Under general supervision, he/she may supervise the work of technicians and he/she performs testes for certification of equipment to applicable product safety standards and procedures and advises customer of non-compliance or issues compliance certification of equipment to applicable product safety standards and procedures and advises customer of non-compliance certificate. This position requires specialized knowledge, the ability to work independently, and consistent exercise of discretion and sound judgment.

AUTHORITY
The incumbent is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities, provided that much action is consistent with sound company and cost-effective practices and is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES
-Manages projects independently
-Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation. Selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
-Devises new approaches to problems
-Consults with clients, pre-evaluates projects and reviews job cost and duration
-Follows marketing leads and offers other services to client base
-Contributes to business planning
-Investing to international regulatory standards
-Supervises laboratory tests
-Generates and revises test reports and documentation
-Schedules and performs on-sites first factory inspections and generates appropriate forms
-Sets cost limits
-Reports time and money spent on a monthly basis for billing purposes
-Keeps all client information confidential
-Performs other related duties and assignments as required


REQUIREMENTS
1.Education and Training
-Bachelor Degree in Engineering
-Product safety training/functional safety training
-Good communication, customer relations and projects acquisition skills
2.Experience/Qualifications
-Minimum six years related workplace experience.
-Several years experience in HW/SW design
-Experience in Functional Safety Standars
