Responsibilities
? Act as the team representative and/or coordinator for team and user driven projects
? Manage, research, schedule and conduct database upgrade activities, including the application of new patches and releases
? Manage, resolve and/or escalate database issues in an appropriate time frame
? Administer database with regard to security, design and performance
? Supervise, train and mentor junior team members
? Conduct and review efficient database schema and query design
? Manage, design and implement disaster recovery, fail-over and/or clustered database environments using appropriate technologies and products
? Manage and conduct data and database recovery activities
? Create and review SQL for applications, administrative or ad-hoc use
? Ensure timely and successful completion of all compliance related activities
? Provide on-call support as part of the on-call rotation
? Direct and track the progress of current work, including production support, scheduled activities and project involvement
? Participate in infrastructure design, integration and strategic planning
? Coordinate with other ITS groups to ensure that the teams efforts are focused on approved projects and initiatives
? Manage and resolve medium to complex problems and respond to monitoring alerts
? Participate in or lead projects per established methodology
? Define and configure hardware and software components to support projects
? Identify areas for improvement and recommend standards, tools and new technologies to support business initiatives
? Identify and meet training requirements within the team
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
? Bachelor of Science Degree in MIS, Computer Science or equivalent preferred
? 7 years’ experience in Information Technology, as database administrator
? Minimum 5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex performance problems
? Demonstrated success in project management disciplines
? Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Project, Access & Visio
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Experience of Oracle Databases and Financial Applications required
? Experience of SQL Server and/or Sybase ASE desirable
? Current certifications preferred
? Experience with UNIX, LINUX and TSM desirable
