Sr. Contamination Control Engineer

Establish contamination control requirements for launch systems that will result in acceptable contamination levels for spacecraft programs. Verify launch system contamination control requirements derived for spacecraft programs are being met by launch vehicle contractors. Monitor and perform inspections of manufacturing and launch site facilities and hardware. Will spend time at launch site preparing for and monitoring launch processing. Review results of contamination analysis and environmental data from cleanroom facilities to verify that program requirements are being met. Candidates who come from the semiconductor or microelectronics background who are interested in being cross trained for spacecraft are welcome to apply and will be considered as well.

A thorough knowledge of spacecraft program elements, procedures, and launch vehicles is required. Must have working knowledge of numeric modeling techniques used for contamination analysis. Experience with contamination control documentation, such as MIL-STD-1246 and FED-STD-209 is very desirable. The applicant must have very good presentation skills, being able to brief upper level management about contamination control issues and be proficient at developing and writing specifications and procedures. Prefer at least 8 years experience in the field of spacecraft contamination control.
Must be willing to travel on a routine basis, both to contractors in the LA area, other states, and launch sites. Must be in good physical condition, being able to climb several flights of stairs carrying moderate (up to 20 lbs) of equipment. Must be able to work on elevated platforms and man-lifts.
BS degree in Physical Science or Engineering required.
Candidate must possess high energy, good problem solving skills, excellent written and oral presentation skills, be team oriented, and have a big picture perspective. Current SSBI clearance required.
Position is open to Grades 10/11/12 with final determination based on experience level.
