Sr. Configuration Engineer - Application Operations

Leads configuration, and implementation efforts of custom built applications and related initiatives for large and / or complex projects with an emphasis operational best practices, including configuration management, problem management and availability management. Leads outage calls and performs or delegates troubleshooting assignments as part of the outage call. Provides management with
timely, accurate and professional status reports on outage events, projects and scheduled maintenance. Candidate will interface will technical leads as well as business sponsors and must tailor communications accordingly. Performs environment and application related maintenance often during the 2am-6am timeframe.
Coordinates activities with core infrastructure teams (i.e. WAN, Site Tech, ESM, Messaging, InfoSec etc.) for troubleshooting, new installations and capacity planning.
Active in functional-level and department-wide assignments of similar complexity and impact.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates a strong working understanding of troubleshooting techniques and strategies, software development lifecycle activities, deployment strategies and capacity planning.
Demonstrates an understanding of firewalls, Active Directory, routers and load balancing hardware/software.
Ability to formulate and recommend technical direction for the application services group in
collaboration with other IT organizations within US Information Technology Services.
Demonstrates a strong working understanding of trouble shooting techniques and strategies, web administration and trouble shooting techniques and strategies and analyzing web trending and statistics.
Experience working with application and database experts to achieve performance standards
TECHNOLOGY/TOOL SKILLS
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of software and web technologies, including IIS 5 and IIS6, N-Tier architectures, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, software, Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i and Big IP F5
.
PROJECT SKILLS
- This resource will be called on to act as a representative of the Application Operations Group - Function Specific Applications team on particular projects, providing coordination, and point of contact services to the project team.
- Demonstrates a working ability to provide accurate project estimates and timelines.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to deliver on
project commitments.
- Demonstrates an ability to manage multiple project deliverables on multiple projects effectively.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS
- Demonstrates the ability to operate as the primary resource on a project, through planning, resource allocation, conflict resolution, project negotiation, and reporting. This individual should be able to manage the application through its entire lifecycle.

EXPERIENCE
- Due to the scope of the responsibilities, a minimum of 5 years of relevant business and working experience is required to ensure tasks are completed without supervision.
- A minimum of 5 years of
strong experience in a Microsoft centric environment is required to ensure a strong foundation in application support and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work and communicate well with others. Ability to work in a team environment. Good customer service skills. Good analytical and troubleshooting skills. Good organizational and planning skills. Strong time management skills. Ability to work autonomously in day-to-day management of software application stress testing projects.
