Department Description: The CTO Audio and Acoustic Architecture team is responsible for Voice and Music technology development and integration into Cellular Telephones, including transducer and acoustic systems development, audio architecture and ASIC specification, advanced audio and acoustic technology development, and DSP algorithm development.

Responsibilities/Expectations: The Audio engineer will join a team of DSP engineers to research, develop, and support multimedia audio technologies that will be needed in the next few years and/or are currently used by MDB products. As a Sr. DSP or HW engineer, his/her responsibilities include prototyping new music and voice processing algorithms, testing and debugging audio algorithm performance, writing and optimizing DSP code in fixed-point C and assembly languages, and working with acoustic design and measurement team on the audio system level, either independently or as a team member. Candidate will be responsible for improving voice applications by developing compressor and frequency response shaping processing in conjunction with acoustic systems. Candidate will also be responsible for audio hardware system design, ASIC specifications, and some acoustic systems design.^^

Knowledge Skills: To be considered for the position, the candidate is required to have at least BSEE with an MSEE highly desired. Candidate should have experience in any of the following areas: Embedded microprocessor circuits, micro-processor and DSP interface, SW architecture, Non-linear audio processing, Musical instrument effects, MIDI, Pro audio, analog and digital filtering. Experience with ASIC IC system design is a plus. Experience in acoustic design and testing is desired but not required. Experience with cell phone hardware and audio system design is desired but not required.

For consideration in DSP SW development, the candidate should have BS or MS in EE or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of three-year working experience in audio DSP software design and development. Knowledge of fundamental DSP theory and hands-on experience with TI and/or Freescale (Motorola) DSP chips are essential, as well as the fixed-point C and MATLAB programming experiences. Knowledge and experience in speech processing, echo and noise canceller, and music signal compression and processing, and in using popular software development tools and processes are highly desirable.
