Software UI Developer

Description:
Our client in Burbank seeks a Software UI Developer responsible for designing and engineering UI Solutions for its various proprietary tools and applications.

In this role, this individual will create, customize, and maintain UI components for proprietary applications division-wide, work closely with Senior Software Architects and Software Engineers to evaluate, examine potential gains and optimizations that may be derived from UI development and enhancement projects, and develop specifications through usability investigations and design efforts. In addition, you will craft highly intuitive Qt-based applications that archive and index complex media types, such as images and movies, collaborate with Senior Software Architects and user groups throughout the development process to ensure that the UI will meet interface needs and requirements and report expected or unforeseen challenges to engineering and management teams. You will also consider the potential for and designs with commercial release in mind.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Image Processing or related degree required.

Strong C++ skills, including object-oriented design and large-scale software projects are required including experience with object oriented UI toolkits, preferably Qt. A solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, such as data structures, algorithms, systems, and programming languages and familiarity with visual effects software a plus. Familiarity and exposure to image processing algorithms and theories a plus. Two-years experience as a software engineer/developer in user interface design and implementation is essential.

Computer skills required include development experience for Mac/OSX and Unix/Linux, proficiency and experience with Postgres, SQL, Oracle and Mysql databases and programming experience in C, C++, Python, Open GL and PHP. Experience with object-oriented tool kits, preferably Qt and experience working with high speed networking, RAID disk arrays are essential

Successful candidate will have the ability to analyze and optimize performance in event loops, balancing short-term solutions against long-term architectural vision, strong communication skills, and ability to work with people with varying levels of technical proficiency and a willingness to train users and provide excellent customer support in a production environment.
