Designing the future. Join the men and women of ViaSat in meeting the most complex systems challenges imaginable for government, military and business communications security. Responsibilities include: Definition, design, and development of system requirements; logical and systematic conversion of specified requirements into a total system solution that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints; Assess potential system architectures, define complex system specifications and associated design of system architectures, input/output processes and working parameters; Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system; Analyze and resolve difficult and complicated program support deficiencies. Up to 25 percent travel.Requirements:
BA/BS degree along with 8 plus years experience required. Formal engineering or scientific education; MS or above preferred. 8-12 years experience as systems engineer for complex hardware/software development projects including system architecture, requirements analysis, design, projection, integration, test, and transitioning into operations. Experience in complex, multi-faceted programs with multi-contractor teams/alliances. 3+ years as lead systems engineer; security program experience preferred. 3+ years experience as lead software development lead for complex embedded applications. DoD systems development experience preferred with active security clearance or have held active clearance (secret or above) within the past two years. Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering processes (eg. 499B, IEEE1220, EIA632) as well as "big picture" understanding. Ability to guide small team of engineers in specific systems engineering applications. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to function in an integrated team environment.Requirements analysis, through analysis of customer needs, objectives, and specification in the context of operational missions and environments and specific system characteristics. Design/definition of system solutions, configuration items and system elements for each logical set of functional and performance requirements. Monitor and control technical progress through measurements, assessment and decision mechanisms required to evaluate design capabilities. Promote cross discipline understanding among project engineering disciplines.
