Software Project Lead/Supervisor

This person will lead the technical software group during the development of AMS Device Manager project(s). The Technical Lead’s primary responsibility is to own the overall design of the system, to ensure the system is properly designed/extended, to ensure the system being designed will meet the customer requirements identified by Marketing, and to provide technical work direction to the software engineers. The technical lead will assist the project manager with some of the project management activities and be responsibility is to lead the AMS Device Manager Architecture Team.

As part of this, they will work with the Project Manager and Marketing to understand the project scope. They will typically author architecture and requirement documents, as well as take primary responsibility for the definition of the software development environment.

In addition, this person is expected to:
•Monitor the progress of each team member against the schedule.
•Ensure that all team members understand their assignments and have a constant set of assignments in front of them.
•Mentor team members concerning following the appropriate development procedures
•Provide verbal updates of project progress to the Project Manager and project team at the weekly project meetings
•Work closely with the test team lead and documentation team lead to ensure that the work in those other areas is proceeding to plan.
This individual will also be responsible for supervising a group of 2 to 6 software developers. This group of engineers will be responsible for the development of software applications for the AMS Suite of applications and associated products for the Asset Optimization Division of Emerson Process Management.

Other responsibilities include being involved in supporting continuation activities relating to existing customers, and participate in compliance audits (i.e. ISO, customers, etc.) and help develop and improve development processes.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
•Software programming experience using C++, OOA, OOD
•Experience as a technical lead
•Knowledge of COM/DCOM, XML technologies, OPC
•Experience in Windows development using Visual Studio, .NET framework
•Ability to deal with ambiguity
•Ability to prioritize workload/task
•Understands that requirements can change and is able to adapt and/or shift priorities as needed
•Keep skills current with new technologies
•Ability to work in a structured development process
•Candidates must be detail-oriented, quality conscious, capable of understanding system-level concepts, self-motivated, and hard-working
•Excellent English communication skills in both oral and written, and a strong desire to work in a cross-cultural team

Desired:
•Experience supervising
•Experience in Windows development using VC++, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services
•Knowledge of MS Windows standards and development practices
•Working knowledge of Windows security
•Knowledge and experience with Man-Machine Interface (MMI) in manufacturing environments
•Familiarity with process industries
•Experience with Visual Source Safe or other code control software
•Web application development
