Software Operation Manager - Windows Mobile Products

Department Description: The Seamless Mobility group develops mobile phones running the Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphone Operating Systems, collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external partners. The core software team is responsible for developing application processor based software, BSP drivers, integrating windows OS and features, end to end Vendor management of the third party software vendors as well as owning and driving complete end to end feature development for the features that it leads.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Software Operation Manager to interface with the core SW team feature leads and Product teams to plan and coordinate core SW delivery to the product teams. Responsibilities include planning releases feature contents and requirements, schedules, developing software requirements, and coordinating technical support needs of the product teams for Windows Mobile Smartphone based mobile phones.
Strong software engineering background and ability to understand mobile phone features including code/software development and ability to help to solve a wide variety of technical software issues as well as propose and evaluate requirements and design options is desired. The candidate will need to interact and use their technical software engineering expertise with the core SW team feature leads and external groups like Motorola System/Field Testers, Product Teams, and Motorola customers world-wide as necessary to ensure that issues and features are effectively and appropriately assigned, planned, and executed/resolved. The candidate may also work on continual process improvements.^^

Knowledge Skills: BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering. A highly motivated self-starter with experience in software development as well as interests on the business/planning side. Experience with a defect tracking tool and software development process is required. Experience with Motorola or Mobile Devices Software development process, including M-Gates, feature management database, WSAN, DISSECT, and TestCentral is strongly desired. Previous experience with C++/C# .NET/Windows CE/Windows Smartphone/PocketPC application/driver and/or UI/driver development/features for mobile phones or handheld devices is a major plus. Experience with Telecommunications, mobile phone software development, DirectShow, Multimedia, OMA DRM, Instant Messaging, JAVA, MMS, Bluetooth, Security, and/or device features is a plus. In addition, strong problem solving, organization, verbal and written communication, ability to work in a dynamic environment with individuals in multiple countries, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are required. Ability to travel if necessary is required.
