SUMMARY





Provides customers and end users with product and technical support by performing the following duties.







 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.





Responds to customer inquiries on the telephone, through on-line networks, and by mail.





- Communicates with customers to help them understand how to use the product properly.





- Handles customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product.





- Communicates with programmers and authors regarding software solutions and follows-up to make sure fixes are received, tested and implemented correctly.





- Develops and maintains detailed knowledge of the Honeywell-POMS Products — Best Practice Objects and Relational Databases, Runtime Kernel, Interfaces  (ECI, ERPi, etc . . .), Operating Systems.





- Configures Honeywell-POMS Product BPOs and custom action block functions and steps (objects).





- Reads, interprets and debugs programming language associated with POMS Best Practice Objects.





- Creates and modifies POMS Best Practice Objects product code as necessary to correct product defects.





- Troubleshoots problems associated with customer network and operating systems.





- Diagnoses and resolves system integration problems — modifies the configuration and objects to improve system performance.





- Completes, maintains, and processes incident reports in Call Tracking System and maintains associated related paperwork and records.





- Completes, maintains, and processes Software Change Requests (SCR) in Defect Tracking System and maintains associated related paperwork and records.





- Assists in the final testing of new products.







 











































































































Job Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences or Engineering.

- 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.





- 2+ year(s) experience in a Structured Programming Language environment.





- 2+ year(s) experience with relational databases and structured query language a must.





- Knowledge of POMS Action Language (PAL), or experience using POMS in an application environment is a plus.

Company Overview

Honeywell can trace its roots back to 1885, when an inventor named Albert Butz patented the furnace regulator and alarm. He formed the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co., Minneapolis, on April 23, 1886, and a few weeks later invented a simple, yet ingenious device that he called the "damper flapper."


Here's how it worked. When a room cooled below a predetermined temperature, a thermostat closed the circuit and energized an armature. This pulled the stop from the motor gears, allowing a crank attached to the main motor shaft to turn one-half revolution. A chain connected to the crank opened the furnace's air damper to let in air. This made the fire burn hotter. When the temperature rose to the preset level, the thermostat signaled the motor to turn another half revolution, closing the damper and damping the fire. The temperature correction was automatic. Over the years, many Honeywell products have been based upon similar, but more complicated closed-loop systems.
