Located in Ithaca, N.Y., Cornell University is a bold, innovative, inclusive and dynamic teaching and research university where staff, faculty, and students alike are challenged to make an enduring contribution to the betterment of humanity.





This position is with the team supporting Cornell University’s Identity Management infrastructure. This infrastructure is comprised of the University enterprise directory, authentication systems, authorization systems, identity mapping systems and provisioning applications, such as the software which generates Network Identifiers (NetIDs). Technologies may be server or client –based. Current initiatives include the migration of campus services from Kerberos 4 to Kerberos 5, the development of enhanced central authorization services, and the expansion and improvement of NetID and GuestID provisioning processes.



Responsibilities include:

§ developing, testing, implementing and maintaining server-based technologies and software supporting Identity Management services;

§ acting as backline consultant for the CIT Contact Center;

§ responding to and resolving production issues;

§ providing technical guidance and training to campus developers in integrating their applications with the Identity Management infrastructure through direct support, documentation, and participation in campus special interest group discussions;

§ making appropriate recommendations for implementation of Cornell customer requirements and maintaining knowledge of best practices within the higher education community.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 4 years experience supporting infrastructure services in a distributed computing environment with a proven track record of delivering solutions on schedule. Candidates with experience and interest in IT security infrastructure preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in Unix and network programming. Experience with C, C++, Perl, and shell scripting required. System administration skills in one or more of the following operating systems: Linux, Solaris, AIX. Experience with Coldfusion, Java, and webMethods desirable. Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline driven, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to obtain and convey technical information to others of varying levels of technical knowledge and responsibility. Must have well-developed problem-solving abilities, analytical, reasoning and judgment skills. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships to facilitate projects essential.
