Software Engineer/Development/Principal
Business Unit: GE HealthcareFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: The Principal Software Engineer will develop the tools, processes, and support necessary to meet Engineering, Quality Assurance, deployment, and control objectives. He/She will drive adoption of certain GE common tools including ClearCase and ClearQuest within Business Solutions according to GE conventions. Will design and implement tools to support utilization of those tools and others within Operational framework where daily builds and internal deliveries are expected across multiple distributed test environments. With Development engineers, QA engineers and Leadership will develop, maintain, and communicate appropriate standards supporting a best-of-breed processes. Will train and mentor engineers within the department on Configuration Management principles and standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Requires 7+ years experience in software development with industry-standard Configuration Management and Application Delivery Tools. Knowledge of software version control tools, processes and Best Practices in distributed computing environments (Windows, AIX, OpenVMS). Experience with development, maintenance and implementation of software/hardware upgrades and migrations. Experience and facility with installing, configuring, learning, using, and explaining automated tools used within Development engineering environments. Expertise in code design principles and standards to ensure tools are flexible, adaptable and maintainable. Individual must be able to function in a demanding R&D environment. Must be able to work with cross-functional teams. Must be a team player with solid organizational, writing, and communication skills. Must be able to work with internal customers to understand needs and translate into tools.Desired: BS or MS in Software Engineering or other engineering discipline.
