Job Description:
· Design, maintain and build logical and physical database models
· Perform routine maintenance on Progress and SQL Server databases
· Optimize and performance tune schemas and queries
· Plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm and performance
· Develop stored procedures and queries
· Design and implement data warehousing and data archiving strategies
· Participate in the requirements specification process with project teams
help define technical requirements, scope, and limitations
· Design and implement backup and recovery plans
· Help debug performance problems; work with Application people, Unix and
NT admins and Network admins
· Perform configuration management functions such as migration of schema
changes, shell scripts, programs, etc from development/test to production
· Document all DBA procedures such as backup, recovery, etc
· Perform regular db maintenance such as dump/loads, defrags, index rebuilds, etc
· Provide strategic technical architectural direction – application integration,
business intelligence, Web, tools, etc
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
· 5+ years of database administration experience using the Progress database
· 3+ years of Progress programming experience
· 3+ years of Unix shell script experience
· 3+ years of QAD Mfg/Pro experience desired
· Extensive background with SQL Server; 2005 experience desired
· Experience with VLDB’s, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, system backups and
restores

Qualification:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
