Software Engineer - C# - OOP -Java - C++

My client is seeking a seasoned MS SQL DBA to add to a very team oriented production environment. The selected MS SQL DBA will have strong skill in architecture, capacity planning, scalability and hands-on knowledge with Microsoft clustering experience. This is not a SQL development role. The selected SQL DBA will be responsible 24x7 production support of VLDB (OLTP and OLAP).

This includes:

Back-up, restore, consolidation, reorganization and disaster recovery planning.
Production support of SQL Server DBMS and with an awareness of the role of Oracle within Enterprise.

Database software and server installation, configuration and management.
Installing changes to database software; service packs and hot fixes.
Troubleshooting, performance tuning and capacity planning.
Performing updates to schema and security roles with a keen discipline in change management.
Working on primarily SQL Server with an understanding key Oracle interface.
Actively stay up to date with the latest developments in SQL Server.
Provide documentation of all work.

REQUIREMENTS


The selected SQL DBA must have:

· 5+ years hands-on “go to” SQL Database Administration experience in a 24x7 production environment. Not a DBA who delegates, depends on or manages others. This includes thorough knowledge and experience with:

o SQL Server 2000

o Thorough experience and skills in SQL Server concepts and DB Administration operations.

o Fault Tolerance concepts.

o SQL Server internals.

o T-SQL.

o Replication and Optimization.

o Production support of SQL Server DBMS.

o Capacity Planning and Performance Tuning.

o Knowledge of SQL Clustered Servers.

o Database Security best practices.

o VLDB (200 GB or more)

Ability to adapt quickly to growing business needs and ability to excel under high pressure is essential.
Working knowledge of Storage/SAN planning and implementation. (EMC Clariion is being used)
Windows and some UNIX experience.
Ability to train and turnover updates or changes to other staff members.
Exceptional communication and soft skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Desired skills for the chosen SQL DBA:

· Data modeling and Data Architecture.

· MCDBA.

Oracle under AIX.
Any experience with ERP (Oracle preferred)
