Software Engineer (BBMM01)

ARRIS is a global communications technology company specializing in the design and engineering of broadband networks. We are a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of cable telephony, video and high-speed data equipment, as well as outside plant construction and maintenance equipment for cable system operators.

Primary Accountabilities:
Developing Firmware and/or FPGA design for features on D5 DMTS involving TCPIP protocols, DVB/MPEG standards, DOCSIS
Generation of design documentation
Generation test plans and test results
Development and execution of automated test tools.
Resolution of Product Defects - providing defect analysis and process improvements to minimize future occurances of similar issues.

Occasional Responsiblities:
Review and comment on design docs, code reviews
Review of new development tools & methodologies
Customer support/investigation for field issues
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications Minimum Requirements of the Position)

Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 3 Years of relevant job experience

Competencies / Skills:
Programming languages: C/C++ and/or VHDL/Verilog
Experience with Altera and/or Xilinx FPGA chipsets and development tools.
Experience with Synplicity FPGA development tools.
Operating Systems: PSOS+, windriver VX works, Linux
Development environments: Clearcase, clearquest or similar
Working knowledge of and experience implementing MPEG spec’s desired
Working knowledge of and experience implementing DOCSIS spec’s desired
Working knowledge of and experience implementing IP Networking spec’s desired
