SUMMARY
The Developer is part of a team to support existing and new clients, and will work with designers, project managers, and other team members. Works with internal customers to maintain and enhance existing applications. Assist in the development of new applications and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Design, develop, test, debug and support code as required by our customers.
2.Responsible for communicating progress or problems to Project Managers and IT team, and for tracking time spent on projects, and communicating and working with project team members to resolve schedule problems.
3.May work individually or as part of team.
4.Assist with estimating level of effort for assigned tasks, and responsible for completing these tasks on time when not acting as a primary developer on a project.
5.Responsible for adequate level of communication and effectiveness while required to work on multiple projects during a schedule block, and for keeping all primary project engineers informed about relative priorities as they change.
6.Responsible for staying up to date with new technologies and infrastructure and process improvements, and for taking advantage of training opportunities provided by Banta, and for some amount of self training.
7.Responsible for making recommendations at high-level for project direction with a view towards flexibility and for exercising creativity in problem solution.
8.Work with Graphic Designers, Project Managers and Engineering team to develop the site concept, interface design, and architecture of the Web site.
9.Completes projects plans, administrative reports and other duties as assigned.
10.Generally while acting as the primary developer on a project:
a)Be the primary resource for the customer.
b)Provide primary application support for the customer.
c)Have intimate knowledge of projects functionality.
d)Responsible for working closely with the project manager to meet customers needs.
e)Responsible for working closely with PM to ensure proper customer effective rate.
f)Responsible for estimating effort on all new sales proposals for customer.
g)Responsible for estimating level of engineering effort for new projects, planning the development phase, and for timely completion hereof.
h)Responsible for making recommendations for optimizing the site.
i)Responsible for documenting the site’s functionality.
j)Must be present at all major launches.
k)Recommend infrastructure improvements, bug priority, code clean up.
l)Update project team and IT team to changes in the site.
m)Manage Project Team during the development phase.
11.Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
12.Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training programs for the assigned position.
13.Perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks as requested from time to time by management representatives.
REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
•The incumbent reports to the IT Team Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
•The incumbent provides work direction to Project Team members upon commencement and throughout the duration of assigned projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prefer a Computer Science degree. Six months to one year of experience (including an internship) as a Software Engineer a plus. The position requires a high degree of proficiency in one or more of the following specific programming languages: Coldfusion, Java, JavaScript, Perl or PHP. Excellent communications skills are required in oral presentation and written format.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A degree in Computer Science is preferred.

The incumbent must demonstrate and promote teamwork on a consistent basis within the assigned department as well as across functional lines of operations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to comprehend verbal instructions and the ability to read and interpret documents such as government issued regulatory reporting processing rules and regulations and Company policy/procedure manuals. The incumbent must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and have the ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The position requires the ability to calculate figures utilizing advance addition, subtraction division and multiplication and the ability to determine percentages, ratios and utilize graphs deploying algebra and geometry equations.
REASONING ABILITY
Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The incumbent must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and electronically with internal and external customers and perform computer keyboarding activities. Close vision capability is required for the position to include ability to distinguish colors and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift items to a height of three to four feet and/or move items that weigh up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to twenty-five pounds.
