General Summary:

Thousands of customers such as PETCO, Wyndham International, Pulte Homes and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) depend on Autodesk Buzzsaw everyday to manage their critical construction projects. Their daily business processes are completely automated through Buzzsaw including: drawing management, complex workflows, document exchange and real-time project dashboards. This experienced software engineer will design, build, unit-test and maintain complex, rich features in Autodesk Buzzsaw. This engineer must have the ability to understand complex details while maintaining an overall understanding of the goals and direction of the application. In addition to being a self starter this engineer must have the ability to work in a team environment and with people in remote locations. This engineer must have strong software design skills, with the appropriate emphasis placed on robustness, creativity, elegance and reality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Software Architecture:
Investigates and, if necessary, prototypes technologies and algorithms relating to the task.
Researches, analyzes existing legacy architecture and software code to understand the code at both the low-level and higher architectural level in order to make enhancements or resolve defects and performance issues.
Write software designs and specifications for feature implementation.
Mentors and reviews work done by onsite, offsite, and offshore developers.
Preparing Functional Requirements:
Works with Product Management/Product Design to understand and help refine functional requirements for new products or upgrades.
Contributes to cost-benefit analysis by providing cost input for the features and determines feasibility of each feature. Consult with team members to determine feature priority.
May interface with Product Support and customer groups to find out how customers are using products in order to better understand customer issues and provide input on product design.
Estimating and Scheduling:
Track progress with respect to plan and informs manager of delays.
Utilizes software estimation process in order to estimate development time and resources necessary for specific functions.
May provide project leadership including: organizing feature projects, establishing timelines, breaking down and assigning tasks.
Software Construction:
Design and implement high quality, robust features in C#, ASP.NET and/or C++
Conduct and participate in peer code reviews
Create and identify patent-worthy technology and participate in the patent application process.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or mathematics
10+ years programming experience in a tech lead role, developing commercial software products
8+ years experience with C++.
Extensive experience with .NET/C#
Extensive experience with XML and related technologies
Extensive experience with HTML and ASP.NET
Experience with working in distributed teams doing mentoring and work review.
Experience with building and supporting highly scalable, mission critical web hosted software systems
Ability to solve problems and think creatively.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to quickly learn a large body of existing code.
Excellent software design and analysis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Desired Knowledge/Skills:
Experience with SQL
Experience with XSD and XSLT
