Senior Virtualization Engineer

Purpose: Our client, located in San Jose, is in need of a Senior Virtualization Engineer for a permanent position.

Senior Virtualization Engineer Candidate is responsible for providing architectural design, implementation, performance tuning, and on going support for a virtual OS environment large scale multi-site production environment. In this position you will be responsible for systems management, support and maintenance various Windows and UNIX OS?s and 3rd party applications. Individual will participate in planning, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of server systems and make recommendations for improvements/upgrades. As a Senior Virtualization Engineer you will be responsible for providing escalation support for unresolved client issues as well as developing, designing, testing, and implementing plans and procedures to protect Virtual servers including disaster recovery and fault tolerance. Candidate will work closely with other members of the technology staff, including other systems administrators, network engineers, quality assurance, customer operations and software engineers.

A qualified candidate will have extensive experience in Windows (NT/Win2K/Win2K3), Linux (RH3/4) and Solaris (8/9/10) systems administration, or systems programming experience in support of systems administrators. A strong background in Computer Architecture with an emphasis on the x86 architecture is necessary, as well as knowledge of enterprise System Management. Our candidate must have experience with scripting languages (esp. Unix shells and VBScript) and complex regular expressions.
