Senior Staff Sustaining Engineer - Java EMS

Department Description: This department is responsible for sustaining a Java based Element Management System (EMS) in support of Motorola’s leading edge Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) solution. The solution enables the delivery of voice, video and data services using BPON (Broadband Passive Optical Networking) communications infrastructure. Solution also supports a broad range of networking technologies including SONET and GbE Transport, TDM, ATM and IP protocols.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Sustaining Engineer responsible for Java-based Element Management System (EMS) applications for FTTP solution. ^^

Knowledge Skills: - Candidate is expected to have a demonstrated history of development work with commercially deployed Java-based applications.
Java and OO design skills including experience with Core Java and Java AWT/Swing packages
Experience in debugging client/server applications
Experience troubleshooting SNMP agent related issues
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:
Exposure to a wide variety of APIs such as threads, networking, security, database (e.g., JDBC, JMS, JMX, JNDI, RMI)
Exposure to XML-related technologies and APIs (e.g., XML, Schema, DOM, SAX, XSLT, Web Services)
ATM and IP networking
