Senior Software Systems/Database Engineer [query processing]

Sybase currently has several openings for Senior/Staff Development Engineers in its Dublin, CA, headquarters, who can infuse new technology and experience into the current team.


Responsibilities:


Candidate will join existing R&D Engineering teams, which are looking to develop new query processing features in the Sybase ASE DBMS product.

The positions require candidates to be highly motivated, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in multiple programming languages including C, C++, PERL and Java, and have experience with client/server applications.

Candidates will be required to have experience with system level programming including threading models, memory management, signal handling, SMP, RDBMs, shell scripting, and performance. Applicants will be expected to design new features and products in current product suite and work with various teams in development of new technology.
Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of knowledge and at least 3 years of software development experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required.

Compiler/parser/language experience

Preferred OS internal experience (i.e. Unix, Linux, Windows)

C/C++, OO Design required
