Senior Software Systems/Database Engineer [data movement]

Sybase currently has several openings for Senior/Staff Development Engineers in its Dublin, CA, headquarters, who can infuse new technology and experience into the current team.


Responsibilities:


Candidate will join existing R&D Engineering teams, which are looking to develop new products in the Sybase data movement product suite.

The positions require candidates to be highly motivated, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in multiple programming languages including C, C++, PERL and Java, and have experience with client/server applications.

Candidates will be required to have experience with system level programming including threading models, memory management, signal handling, SMP, RDBMs, shell scripting, and performance. Applicants will be expected to design new features and products in current product suite and work with various teams in development of new technology.
Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of knowledge and at least 3 years of software development experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required.

Two or more years experience in Unix, Windows, RDBMS, and object-oriented design (i.e., C/C++/Java) is required.

Experience in database or Internet application development, with specific experience in back-end server or GUI-based applications, is required.

Must be an acknowledged expert in globalization and Unicode. Knowledge of a second language is a definite plus.
