Akamai is looking for a software engineer with systems programming and architecture background to develop streaming software, applications, and monitoring systems. The candidate will be a part of a highly skilled and motivated team that develops Akamai's Internet Content Delivery solution for Streaming.
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be a first rate Perl, C and C++ programmer with experience of streaming technologies, TCP/IP networking, multithreading and server development. Development experience on Linux and Windows 2003 operating systems is required. Knowledge of one or more of Windows Media, Real, QuickTime or Flash streaming is preferred. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, has the ability to handle interruptions while fluidly switching between several projects and deal with issues that arise when running a highly available service.
MS or BS degree in Computer Science, with three to five years of Perl/C/C++ development experience. Knowledge of Internet protocols and standards (including TCP/IP, HTTP, RTP/RTSP) and of networked and distributed systems. Knowledge of systems and network programming on Windows(winsock) or Linux(sockets). Development experience with Windows Media, Flash Streaming, Real, or QuickTime is a plus.
