Description:



The Senior Programmer Analyst develops software and procedures for the solution of well-defined, medium to large sized business problems, and/or for segments of more complex problems, and/or systems. The Senior Programmer Analyst participates in turning functional specifications into applications and programs as required. She/He is challenged with assisting the Technical Lead and other technical staff in developing, implementing, troubleshooting, and the management of program procedures to process complex systems with a high level of reliability and execution speed.



Responsibilities:
Interpret business requirements related to a significant element of a system/application.
Assist with design (Usually documents the design specs).
Completes efficient coding on complex applications.
Completes all facets of testing.
Can assist others with debugging and program logic.
Multiple, varied assignments including tasks listed above and additional tasks (e.g. analysis of small to medium size projects, lead technical walk through and project lead of small scale projects).
Provides input/assistance in conducting system feasibility studies.
Assists with the evaluation of system scope and objectives.
On occasion, guides, trains, instructs and assists other on technical issues.
Presentation ability to the project team/manager level.
Interaction with technical work group and business partners results in a positive impact on accomplishment of project goals.
Demonstrates willingness to work in and contribute to a team environment.
Participates in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of software products and/or full-scale applications applying strong SQL, XML/XSLT and J2EE skills.

Qualifications:
Demonstrates use of modeling skills and works with Technical Lead to write technical specifications from functional business requirements.
Participates in System Design.
Engages Technical Leads and other project team members in quickly and effectively solving problems.
Coordinates with TL, business clients and other IS departments in applying system development methodology.
Creates, updates and maintains medium to complex technical specifications as per standards with minimal supervision.
Performs impact analysis for all changes and identifies risk points.
Ensures monitoring, error handling, and fault tolerance requirements are addressed.
Develops solutions that include constraints and controls necessary to enforce business rules and maintain the data integrity and quality at the project and release level.
Provides implementation and production support for sub-systems previously developed/supported.
Develops common operations for re-use in other coding assignments.
Tracks own activities against project plan, articulates progress and/or matters inhibiting progress and displays ability to apply IS standards in executing project tasks.
Adheres to Oxford's SDLC and works with TL and management to ensure team members adhere to formal processes, standards and total quality practices in all activities.
Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation or education
Good inter-personal skills and strong oral and written communication skills are a must.
