Reports to: Engineering ManagerJob Summary:
Senior Product Engineers are responsible for leading the engineering development of Kautex products through close work with Program Management and the Customer. This position will have direct responsibility to develop products and may have responsibility to direct the work of less experienced engineers in support roles. Additionally, this position assists in workload prioritization within the work group.Responsibilities to Include:
Lead workload prioritization within workgroup, including Engineers and Designers.
Assist in recruitment and interviewing.
Coach and mentor engineers and product engineers in their job function.
Assist Engineering Manager in providing guidance to engineers/product engineers and assist in identifying developmental opportunities for the engineers/product engineers in the group.
Assist Engineering Manager in directing engineers/product engineers to comply with external OEM, legislative requirements (SAE/CARB) and internal Core Engineering processes/standards.
Plan and execute product design and development functions that satisfy customer performance and timing requirements and support the Program Management System.
Interface with customer engineering to establish design goals and make design recommendations for assigned programs.
Establish and document other customer design criteria.
Work with Designer to develop necessary design drawings using either customer-generated or KTNA-generated math data.
Ensure that the product design meets all customer requirements.
Develop product specifications as required.
Work with Manufacturing Engineer to develop production tooling and equipment specifications that are critical to tank performance or function.Transfer knowledge of lessons learnt through prototype builds to Manufacturing Engineer for application to production tooling and equipment.
Responsible for developing and reporting the prototype control plans.
Coordinate distribution, communication and implementation of all engineering changes in accordance with KTNA procedures.
Participate in internal and customer PMT and ensure compliance of all engineering related PMR or other OEM required APQP processes and documentation.
Ensure that Engineering Systems and processes are being maintained and incorporated in specific programs. Revise and update Engineering Systems to reflect latest development processes.
Assess support structure needs and assist Information Systems with identifying and procuring necessary hardware and software.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.Position Requirements:
5 to 8 years experience in Automotive.
5 to 8 years experience in Product Related Process Chain.
3 to 5 years experience in Product Design/Process Technology.
Previous Fuel System Manufacturing/Quality Engineering position.
Technical apprenticeship ie plastics forming.
Completion of Interviewing Skills Course and understanding of Interviewing techniques and skills as well as legal aspects of recruiting and interviewing.
Complete Textron University BLC.
Complete TSS Green Belt certification.License and Certification Requirements:
