Senior Manager, Survey Research

Position Summary:
Searching for an individual to identify, assess, develop, administer, and analyze results from Academy member surveys to identify the status of and trends in the delivery of dermatology services, the management and growth of dermatology practices, and epidemiology and practice behaviors impacting the scope, accessibility, nature and effectiveness of dermatology care. Identify and coordinate Academy research needs and activities to support program development and policy, advocacy, communication and education activities.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with Academy staff and leadership to identify research needs and priorities and devise and implement a research plan to address those needs and priorities.
2. Identify and effectively use outside research resources including consultants and survey research firms to support Academy research efforts consistent with the Academy’s research plan, priorities, and budget. Ensure consultative services are delivered on-time and are complete and consistent with contract terms. Assist staff in understanding the survey research process and research results. As needed assist staff in presentation and interpretation of survey findings.
3. Research and forecast regional and national trends impacting dermatology physician practice activities and communicate this information to staff, leadership and other appropriate audiences in a way that informs and strengthens Academy advocacy, policy, communication, education, and/or membership efforts.
4. Assess state dermatologic society policy research, interests, concerns and initiatives. Work with Academy staff to develop survey research activities supportive of the needs of these constituencies.
5. Prepare and disseminate information, updates and analyses for Committees, Councils, the Board of Directors and the government affairs department. Prepare articles and information for Dermatology World and Academy website.
6. Provide staff services and professional expertise to Academy committees and task forces, as assigned.
7. Provide recommendations on appropriate strategic and financial goals that relate to the Science and Research department and the overall Academy mission. Develop and implement programs to fulfill these goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse medical society staffs and physician volunteers.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
• Good organizational skills and public speaking ability required.
• Ability to identify and plan critical tasks and resources and monitor project progress and execute projects under minimal supervision.
• Some travel required.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Statistical Science and /or Survey research, Health Policy Development, or Public Health, provided these degrees have included significant statistical and survey research training. Master’s degree preferred.
• Five years of previous health/medical association, survey research and policy development experience essential.
• Direct experience or knowledge of survey research and research planning required.
