Senior Hardware Design Engineer
Business Unit: GE Industrial, SecurityFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: Job Purpose:The Senior Hardware Design Engineer, as a member of the GE Security Networked Solutions Group, is responsible for the systems architecture, design, and development of custom hardware for a variety of digital video products, enabling remote control of cameras, motion detection, and other devices for the security and video surveillance market.Essential Functions: Architect the overall system block diagram, with considerations for all external analog and digital interfaces, microprocessors, ASICs, FPGAs, glue logic, and analog circuits. Design, simulate, implement and test, custom board level hardware designs of high speed 32 bit embedded micro controller equipped digital video recorders and supporting systems. Assist in the development of VHDL FPGA designs to support the hardware. Assist in the development of power supply designs for all hardware including but not limited to peripheral disks, cameras, USB devices. Interface directly with embedded developers to facilitate software driver development. Interface directly to test facility to help qualify products. Document designs, review notes, test results. Project planning. Accountabilities: Ensures that product design and implementation meets product specification and quality requirements. Ensure that hardware development is completed on time, and within costs of project plan. Identifies new technology and tools that can be applied to enhancing our products.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or high school diploma /GEDMust have at least 8 years of experience with electronic hardware design of complex, high speed mixed signal systems involving multiple hardware engineers.Must have at least 4 years experience developing high speed digital board level designs from concept to completion.Proficiency with CAD applications such as PCAD, Orcad, or PAD.Proficiency with VHDL and FPGA design.Prior experience with implementing embedded micro controller/RISC designs.You must submit your application for employment through www.gecareers.com to be considered.You must be at least 18 years or older.You must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.You must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.You must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time.You must be willing to work out of an office in Salem, OR.You must be willing to accept an annual salary that is not more than $110,000.Desired: Experience in digital video encoding, decoding, and compression technology e.g. JPEG2000, MPEG4, H.26x.Practical knowledge of device driver development in C.Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.Effective management skills.Effective leadership skills.Ability to work in a cross-functional, geographically distributed team.General: ABOUT GE SECURITY: GE Security spans the globe as a technology leader in the rapidly growing electronic security industry that helps protect families, property and communities.
