Senior HVAC/R Heat Exchanger (coil) Engineer
Senior HVAC/R Heat Exchanger/Coil Engineer Job#26217
This engineer will have three major responsibilities for heat exchangers:
1)research and development of new coils; 2) design of special custom exchangers to meet the needs of customers; and 3) telephone interface with customers to understand needs of customers and/or to provide technical expertise to customers. Will be expected to stay abreast of changing technology and standards for HVAC systems and coils. Provide leadership for the engineering dept in the area of ‘what is new’ and how that affects the development and design of coils. Provide some technology training and news notes to engineers both at this location and at other company locations. Will interface with sales engineers to assist them on technical issues. The coils of this division are used in complex and challenging environments such as harsh environments or special temperature needs. This work is not designing ‘cookie cutter’ coils for use in some major OEM 3 ton residential HVAC product produced by the 1000’s in a year. Thus, this work is much more technically challenging day in and day out.
This engineer will lead development and design relative to heat transfer analysis (prediction), mechanical design and materials usage. Will take development through the entire life cycle including lab testing and performance analysis of developed/designed coils. Will be leading an effort into a new market segment.
This is a special kind of job in that you have a hand in research, developing industry standards, writing technical articles, development, design, testing and analysis. Not many of these jobs around.
Company specializes in pioneering new technologies that allow them to design and build the most compact, efficient and economical heat exchangers for a number of uses and industries. The company does more than just recommend one of their existing coil designs for customers. They analyze the environment and operating parameters to which coils will be subjected and then carefully blend different coil design factors and materials. They also evaluate several cost and service life considerations so the end result is a custom coil that not only meets your performance expectations but also provides the appropriate service life. This company is 60+ years old and continues to be a top industry performer. They truly do want someone who can do some research but not only research. Unlike most companies they would prefer someone who can demonstrate technical knowledge and expertise via having been published.
