Senior Exploration Geologist/Manager

Our client; a world leader in the production of titanium and zircon has an opening for a Senior Exploration Geologist. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, this person will be responsible for developing and managing exploration activities on multiple projects with the aim of discovering significant mineral sands deposits throughout North America. The successful candidate will have 3 to 4 exploration geologists reporting to them and should have some management experience and a strong desire to develop their career further in this direction. The right person will be in an excellent position to take over as Manager of Exploration – Americas in two to three tears time. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious ‘go-getter’ to make their mark within this first class Australian owned company.
REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking candidates with the following skills:

1.A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent is required.

2.Minimum of 10 years experience in the exploration industry. An emphasis in mineral sands exploration is preferred but not required. Should have a wide ranging knowledge of exploration practices employed across the industry.

3.The candidate should possess excellent technical skills, and ideally have some experience in mine operations. Some managerial experience would be beneficial, and the candidate should have the aptitude and desire to develop their careers further in this direction.

4.Must be able to co-ordinate and manage exploration activities and drilling programs.

5.Should have highly developed oral and verbal communication skills, and possess excellent presentation skills as will be required to put forward complex issues to senior management and high level external agencies.

6.Should have the ability to lead a team of professionals tasked to discover new mineral sands deposits across the U.S. and provide a training/mentor role for groups of developing professionals. Stong commitment to a team philosophy with a desire to break down barriers where they exist. Ability to cross functional boundaries and appreciate other viewpoints.
