Senior Electrical / Firmware Engineer

Business Unit: GE HealthcareFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: Join the GE Healthcare Life Sciences Instrument Development team to create the next generation of advanced automated optical microscopes. Our products are designed for scientists involved in basic cellular biology research and pharmaceutical drug development. Your role will be to support the hardware team through firmware and electronic design, implementation, and involvement in system development and planning. Senior Electrical / Firmware Engineers typically participate in the complete hardware development cycle.Your responsibilities will be to:
Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic circuits, printed circuit board assemblies, electronic control systems, cabling and embedded software for instrument control,
Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability,
Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs,
Lead the design through successful compliance with WEEE/RoHS and CE/CSA/CB regulatory needs,
Direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication,
Provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation,
Prepare requirements and other project documentation~HJ~
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: MS Degree in a relevant field such as Electrical / Electronics Engineering,
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience in an instrument design environment,
Able to develop firmware and hardware design. Experience with PID motion control, LCD/user interface, digital I/O, and data acquisition. Some knowledge of analog design, embedded systems, controllers and processors,
Experience working with any Orcad and ViewLogic,
Demonstrated proficiency C++ in embedded applications,
Strong leadership and communication skills,
Strong problem solving skillsYou must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background. You must be willing to take a drug test. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Desired: Design for Six Sigma certification (DFSS)
Familiarity with microscopy applications and detection-based instrument design with optical detectors or detection electrical circuits
Experience in Labview, MATLAB programming
