Senior CMTS Engineer

Develop cost effective network solutions, in conjunction with network engineers, market/division and vendors, to satisfy design standards criterion for the converged network.

Collaborate with Edge Engineering group to assist in defining national standards

Assist in development and implementation planning for roll outs of future hardware and software versions of CMTS and DOCSIS cable modems

Work with divisions/markets and other engineering groups to determine CM/CMTS network requirements and service delivery expectations.

Coordinate national roll out of new product/services with Edge Engineering, Operations and market/divisions.

Work with Operations to coordinate field soak and deployment of bug fixes and IOS upgrades.

Work with capacity planning and other engineering groups in setting thresholds and developing action plan for addressing CMTS capacity issues.

Work with Operations and market teams for discovery on CM/CMTS device and service outages.
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The equivalent in related work experience and self study may be substituted.
Experience:

3-5 years experience with a MSO or a CMTS vendor

Thorough knowledge of DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0, and related services.

Ability to troubleshoot and configure Cisco UBR7246VXR, Arris C4 and Motorola BSR64000 CMTS.

Solid TCP/IP background and understanding of the following networking protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, FTP, TFTP required.

Knowledge and experience with VoIP

Knowledge and experience with Node Combining plans

Experience working in a multi-service, multi-vendor environment a plus

Understanding customer devices such as required CPE configuration, gateways/routers, VoIP and video communication units.

Understand DSG, PCMM and QoS implementations.
