Reports to: Director, IRD Concept DesignJob Summary:
A Senior Automotive Engineer conducts requirements analysis, develops new vehicular concepts, develops and executes research verification and validation experiments, as well as provde concurrent leadership in a project team environment.Responsibilities to Include:
Performs basic level requirements analysis in order to develop new concepts and applications for heavy wheeled vehicles and systems.
Prepares proposals for research and development projects and supports proposal technical writing and editing in support of Business Development activities.
Prepares calculations including preliminary weight, performance, powering and range estimates.
Develops new chassis designs, general arrangements and basic hull structural definition for concept designs.
Prepares technical reports and/or reviews technical data or reports provided by others as directed.
Develops and delivers presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Performs and checks Automotive Engineering calculations relating to stability, handling, and other performance characteristics, in order to assure conformity with applicable Classification Society, Regulatory Body or Specification requirements.

REQUIREMENTS
M.S. in Auto or Mechanical Engineering.Position Requirements:
3-5 years heavy vehicle design experience.
Requires high level of skill proficiency in the use of automotive modeling software packages such as Adams or equivalent.
Requires excellent communication skill (including oral) developing written, technical documentation.
Working knowledge in the use of MS software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Project.
Working knowledge in the use of 3D computer aided design software including Rhino3D, Solid Works or AutoCAD (2003+).
Familiar with and capable of developing finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics software systems and specific automotive systems used for calculating stability and performance.
Familiarity with computer programming languages including C, C++, FORTRAN 95, Visual Basic or PASCAL.
Ability to interface effectively with customers, management, peers.
Excellent analytical skills.
Demonstrated project team leadership skills.
Must obtain SECRET security clearance.License and Certification Requirements:
