Senior Associate, Application Server Engineer, 8594
JOB DESCRIPTIONWill work in Discover Financial Services Corporate Business (Information) Technology organization at the Riverwoods, IL Headquarters (between Northbrook and Wheeling; accessible by Metra Train and Pace Bus). * Position includes Application Server (currently WebSphere) engineering, problem determination, performance tuning, maintenance and upgrades in Discover's WebSphere environments from Development to Production. * Discover has over 80 applications, including our core applications, running on WebSphere. These are both browser and java clients implementing SOA. * This is an App Server Engineering position, not application programming.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
SKILLS REQUIRED3(+) years hands-on industry experience in WebSphere Production Environment – performance analysis, implementation, maintenance, and technical documentation. * Experience with WebSphere versions 5 and/or 6. * Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills required. * Must have reasonably stable job history and excellent work ethic / high sense of urgency.DESIRED SKILLS:
SKILLS DESIREDIdeal/ optional experience: WebSphere versions 5 and 6, AIX, CTG, DB2Connect, Mercury LoadRunner, RMI, SOAP, TCP/IP, Apache, Production Support, WebSphere MQ, J2EE 1.3 and 1.4 architecture, and Object Oriented principles.
