Responsibilities include installing / configuring firewall / IDS systems, as well as acting in a security consulting role.
Position Objectives:
Lead security role for customer security services installation -- setting the timeline and expectations for the project milestones. Customer facing consultation role for engagement of diverse security services. Firewall deployment expertise -- including platform support for PIX, Check Point, IPSEC and/or iptables. Detailed technical capability to configure, troubleshoot and tune Network IDS platforms using Snort and/or Cisco technologiesEssential duties:
Review security architecture of installed customers for security of new placement of devices and creation of DMZ. Discuss with customers security policy for the new firewalls and IDS. Advise and understand what the customer will need for maximum security and optimization. Review active firewall policies for insecure rule sets and coordinate with the customer to ensure rules are correct for what is needed. Consult with internal customers for pre-sales to ensure that the security design is architected correctly. Expose customers to security "best practices" for all aspects of their environment. Maintain contact with customers to ensure that new security issues are reviewed and addressed.Required skills:
Good understanding of the UNIX operating system to include: Nokia IPSO, Solaris and Linux. The ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, understanding of TCP/IP protocols. Working knowledge of other technologies that may effect the behavior of the firewall, for example routers, load balancers, switches equipment.Working understanding of the latest security exploits and how to prevent them.Firm understanding and experience with IP address space management, routing protocols, subnetting, name resolution, and directory service protocolsExcellent communication skills and professional attitude in internal and customer relationsDesired skills:
Experience in programming using shell scripts, C or Perl, along with the ability to understand, modify, and compile some source code to assist in job functions.Experience with Host-based IDS or TripWire servicesEducation or Equivalent Experience:
Certification or specialized training in the following desired: CISSP, GIAC, Microsoft Windows, Cisco, TCP/IP.
