Sales Engineer - Electronic Product Development

SUMMARY Designs and develops medium and high technology electronic tools and service products by performing the duties as listed below. Medium technology products do not use microprocessors. High technology product does use microprocessors.

Successful candidates will possess the following:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

1.Identifies opportunities for electronic diagnostic service tools on both hardware and software platforms.
2.Generates engineering design specifications, analyzes data and current technology to determine the feasibility of product proposals.
3.Authors project scope and definition internal documents (PRD).
4.Directs and coordinates manufacturing of prototype units and software.
5.Plans and develops all electronic product tests and programs.
6.Analyzes test data to determine if design meets all functional performance specification, audits and approves all test results.
7.Confers with appropriate personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
8.Responsible for managing and approving all phases and changes for electronic projects.
9.Confers with sales, customer, or technical and operational manuals for diagnostic equipment and software.
10.Manages and qualifies vendors with purchasing for design and prototype build.
11.Demonstrates technical proficiency with significant product knowledge.
12.Computer proficient with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13.Establish and maintain a close working relationship with customers.
14.Determine if the tools have sufficient market demand to justify design and production.
15.Provide technical services to customers relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
16.Remain current in technology and all competitor products.
17.Supports Sales Account Managers and Business Team Leaders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1.B.S. in Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer.
2.Minimum 2 years experience with high technology or microprocessor based product development.
3.Experience with Automotive Systems a plus.
4.Knowledge of sales and customer account management.
