SYSTEM SAFETY ENGINEER

Job Description:
Duties include performing Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments and assisting authors with Preliminary System Safety Assessments, Draft System Safety Assessments and System Safety Assessments. This includes supporting FMEA, fault tree analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, writing zonal analysis, common mode analysis, etc. or is able to make findings of compliance for the FAA in these areas (DOA/DER).Assist systems design, and engineering teams in ensuring all aspects of 23/25.1309 compliance are addressed including reviewing certification plans, AFHA/SFHA, PSSA, DSSA, SSA, ZSA, CMA and PRA.
REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in System Safety/Reliability and/or aircraft mechanical or electrical systems design certification would be helpful. Knowledge of the safety assessment processes outlined in AC 23.1309-1C, SAE ARP 4761/4754 and the draft version of AC 25.1309 advantageous. A working knowledge of DO-178 & DO-254 would be helpful.Previous experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems design, tools such as FMEA, fault trees, safety analysis is beneficial. Good communication skills and computer efficiency are essential. Experience with Relex and Microsoft Office helpful.
