Software Test Engineer - STE2 - Mobile PC - Windows XP - Wireless

Do you have a passion for Mobile PC's? Do you want to help make the Vista experience great on Laptops and Tablet PC's? The Mobile PC Experience Test Team is looking for Test Engineers to assist in evaluating the end user experience of running Vista on Laptops and Tablet PC's.


Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate proficiencies with Operating System management and basic hardware issue troubleshooting.Thorough knowledge of Windows XP management utilities and system tools is a requirement. Engineers on the Mobile PC Experience Test Team use a standard battery of tests to help insure a basic level of functionality is present on the systems they test. Interested candidates must be willing to perform work that will be repeated at regular intervals with little deviation between each interval.

Requirements:



The Software Tester in this position will have the following requirements:
Thorough understanding of management utilities within Windows XP.
Ability to troubleshoot failing hardware to understand the root cause.
An understanding of software testing methodologies and the ability to put them to use.
The ability to right clear concise bug reports.
An ability to stay focused and work with testing that is highly repeatable.
An understanding of technology present in mobile pc's (Wireless, Modems, Memory Cards, Digitizers…etc)
An ability to manage and work with diverse hardware.

Also:
Lots of clear (actual) experience with desktop support and OS installation.
Experience with deploying an OS to a large pool of machines (as a primary task).
Experience troubleshooting hardware issues.
WHQL or similar experience at the Software Giant
BVT or similar experience at the Software Giant
